TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Information disclosed in accordance with the Financial Conduct Authority's UK Listing Rule 9.6.6

The Global Smaller Companies Trust plc (the 'Company') announces that today it has purchased the following number of its ordinary shares of 2.5 pence each on the London Stock Exchange through Investec Bank plc, to be held in treasury.

Following the above transaction, the Company holds 197,389,413 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 423,144,357 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in the Company is now 423,144,357.  This figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the Financial Conduct Authority's Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules.
