(Nasdaq: MERCS, TSX: MRI.U) today announces the appointment of David Cooper and Eric Heine as senior sales and marketing executives to lead the global marketing strategy for Mercer pulp. Mercer's approximate 1.3 million tonnes of high quality NBSK production will be sold globally under their direction. Mr. Cooper will be based in Europe and will focus on European markets while Mr. Heine will be based in Vancouver, Canada with a focus on North American and Asian markets. Mercer's strategy is to provide high quality NBSK pulp, manufactured from modern low cost facilities to meet our customers' needs throughout the world. In keeping with this strategy, the Company is establishing a strong global marketing approach to deliver a combination of effective and reliable direct and agent supported order fulfillment strategies. Eric Heine joins Mercer from Domtar Inc. where, as Vice President - Pulp and International Paper Sales and Marketing, he oversaw world wide sales and marketing strategies for Domtar including realigning sales channels to maximize mill net returns and building brand loyalty with customers.
