Steve Robertson has 35 years of mining industry related experience, largely focused on precious metals and copper exploration in North America. He has co-founded and managed several mining exploration companies. As CEO of Infinitum Copper, he guided the company through a public listing and acquisition of projects in Sonora, Mexico and Arizona, USA. Prior to that, he started Sun Metals where the team made a significant copper-gold discovery and completed two corporate mergers. Earlier, he spent 24 years at Imperial Metals, a mid-tier mining company involved in the development and operation of five mines, primarily in British Columbia. In 2013 Steve was appointed as Vice President, Corporate Affairs with responsibilities including government relations, community relations, aboriginal affairs and corporate communications. As a member of the executive team, he was actively engaged in the planning and execution of strategies to meet Imperial’s corporate objectives, including the construction of the Red Chris mine and recovery from the Mount Polly tailings dam breach. Prior to his VP appointment he was Manager of Exploration where he designed and executed many exploration programs including the highly successful deep drilling at Red Chris. Over a five-year period of drilling, the global resource was increased to a contained 24 million ounces of gold and 16 billion pounds of copper. With three and a half decades of experience in exploration and mine operations he has always been actively engaged within the mining community and recently completed his third term as director for the Association for Mineral Exploration and formerly sat on the Geoscience BC Technical Advisory Committee. Mr. Robertson was awarded the 2016 E.A. Scholz Award for Excellence in Mine Development for his leadership role in development of the Red Chris mine.
