  1. Slide 1: Welcome to the seventh AdaptAire webinar

Welcome to the seventh AdaptAire webinar webinar. 1

  2. Slide 2: The AdaptAire Basics webinar series

This webinar is the seventh in The AdaptAire Basics series series. The AdaptAire Basics webinars are designed as a series of short presentations lasting 20 – 30 minutes. Each webinar will cover a different topic so you should schedule time to attend the remaining one. 2

  3. Slide 3: Webinar format

The format for each webinar will be a short review of the previous webinar webinar, followed by the scheduled presentation, followed by a recap. We will end with time for questions. 3

  4. Slide 4: Recap of the last webinar

Let’s recap what we learned in the last webinar. We learned the MRT-Expert remote user interface is called a BACview. The BACview has an LCD display and an array of buttons that allow the user to adjust the room temperature setpoint, start and stop the unit, and provides system information. We discu

  5. Slide 5: Recap: types of damper control

We talked about the 3 types of damper control: building pressure, manual, and mixed air. I mentioned that the minimum ventilation setpoint specifies the lowest percent of outside air the unit will deliver. . 5

  6. Slide 6: Recap: room temperature control setpoints

We looked at how the system controls the room temperature with 10 setpoints as shown. 6

  7. Slide 7: Recap: protection, scheduling and user outputs

You heard that the control system provides freeze protection, energy savings, diagnostics, and fault control. We discussed the time clock scheduling function, and you learned why it’s necessary to select the days for 24 hour operation. Finally we discussed the versatility of the user configured outp

  8. Slide 8: This webinar covers the WebCTRL graphical user interface

This seventh webinar will cover the WebCTRL graphical user interface. In the next few slides you’ll learn what it looks like. You’ll see how it works. You’ll get a taste of what it can do. And what it can’t do. 8

  9. Slide 9: What WebCTRL is

Before we see how WebCTRL looks we should take a minute to get an idea as to what WebCTRL is. You’ve heard that it’s a web based graphical user interface, but what does than mean? Basically, WebCTRL is a building automation system that can be accessed from anywhere in the world through Internet Expl

  10. Slide 10: WebCTRL dynamic graphics and live logic

Besides those features, WebCTRL also has dynamic and animated graphics which allow the user to see an active representation of the heating and cooling equipment. A unique feature lets the user view the program logic in real-time as it processes commands and controls variables, such as damper positio

  11. Slide 11: Remote access and login

As I mentioned, remote access to a WebCTRL site requires internet connectivity. Logging into any WebCTRL site requires a user name and password. Multiple levels of accessibility can be granted by the system administrator. 11

  12. Slide 12: Properties page

Once the user has logged into the WebCRTL site using the appropriate user name and password, one of the first places he may visit is the properties page where information is formatted much the same as when looking at a BACview. I’ve expanded the setpoints area so you can see how this mimics the BACv

  13. Slide 13: Setting up schedules

Setting up schedules is easy to do as well. In this example you can see at the top we have a normal daily schedule and a holiday schedule. Schedules can be added or deleted as necessary. To add a schedule the user clicks on the add button. Next the user selects the priority for normal, holiday, or o

  14. Slide 14: Historical trending

Historical trending can be a useful tool for optimizing system performance. This example shows voltage to the modulating ball valve in the top graph and the discharge air temperature of an indirect fired heater in the bottom graph. The lag time between the maximum voltage applied to the modulating g

  15. Slide 15: System alerts

The various AdaptAire programs have up to 10 different system alerts. The properties page gives the user a single place to monitor and manage these alerts. To reset an alert the user simply clicks the drop down arrow next to the off box. Next the user picks on from the drop down menu, and then click

  16. Slide 16: Standard and custom reports

Standard and custom reports can be generated in WebCTRL. This is an example of one of the standard reports which shows all of the scheduled instances in the Mestex Dallas system. You’ll notice this report shows that the office unit has been scheduled for Memorial Day shutdown while the warehouse uni

  17. Slide 17: Mid-webinar recap and questions

Let’s take a short break and go over some of the things we’ve discussed so far. In this webinar you learned that WebCTRL is a building automation system that can be accessed from anywhere through Internet Explorer Explorer. You also learned that access is restricted by password protection. I showed

  18. Slide 18: Dynamic and animated graphics

The dynamic and animated graphics give the user instantaneous visual feedback of unit operation. Values displayed are realtime. Animated graphics such as the fan and dampers move in response to signals produced by the control module. 18

  19. Slide 19: Live logic and microblocks

One of the most powerful aspects of WebCTRL is the ability to observe the control program logic as it processes information. Each of the little symbols is called a microblock, and reading the program is fairly intuitive. The logic page shows data as it occurs in live action. All of the yellow values

  20. Slide 20: Changing parameters and PID gains in live logic

Another powerful aspect of WebCTRL within Live Logic allows the user to change factory default parameters within the program logic. This gives the user the ability to get the optimum performance from the heating and cooling equipment. Nowhere can optimization be more effective than fine tuning the c

  21. Slide 21: Software updates and upgrades

Anyone who uses a computer is familiar with updates. Automated Logic periodically updates the WebCTRL application software. It’s not much different than the updates you might see from Microsoft except they are far less frequent than Microsoft. The last WebCTRL update was in October 2009. Automated L

  22. Slide 22: Networking and WebCTRL 500

Our next webinar will cover networking and BAS integration, and this slide shows a typical network. The system includes a server or PC, which will host the WebCTRL program, a router, and two units. I mentioned earlier that WebCTRL was a full blown BAS. BAS It can communicate with an unlimited number

  23. Slide 23: WebCTRL and router pricing

The full version of WebCTRL will run about $4700. WebCTRL 500 has a price tag of around $1000. Multiple copies of WebCTRL 500 cannot be run concurrently on the same PC or server. The cost for each router will be around $575 when ordered with an Applied Air WebCTRL system. The prices quoted here are

  24. Slide 24: Customer benefits of remote monitoring

Customers, using WebCTRL, can monitor their system from any device that gives them internet access. System accessibility is limited by password protection, and multiple password levels insure that system access is appropriate for each user. With the appropriate password plant engineers can have up t

  25. Slide 25: Webinar recap

Before I send you off with something that I hope you will find exciting, let’s recap this webinar. In this webinar you learned that WebCTRL is a building automation system that can be accessed from anywhere through Internet Explorer. You also learned that access is restricted by password protection.

  26. Slide 26: Webinar recap continued

We looked at a graphic of a heater which showed an active representation of the unit. You saw how the user can quickly assess the unit’s operation. You saw a snapshot of live logic which lets the user view the program logic in real-time as it processes commands and controls variables. You saw how re

  27. Slide 27: Accessing the WebCTRL demo

As I mentioned, remote access to a WebCTRL site requires internet connectivity. By visiting the Applied Air website you can access the Mestek Dallas BAS. On the website you’ll find a link to an active demonstration of WebCTRL. 27

  28. Slide 28: Demo login and contact

Click on the link and you will be redirected to the WebCTRL server where you can login and browse. Logging into any WebCTRL site requires a user name and password. The user name and user password are both g-u-e-s-t and are lower case. The password is case sensitive. I invite you to visit the site an

  29. Slide 29: Conclusion and questions

This concludes the seventh AdaptAire webinar webinar. I’ll I ll open the line for some questions questions. 29
