[{"type":"text","content":"\n \nUnited Utilities Group PLC\n\n19 February 2009\n\n UNITED UTILITIES SELECTED AS PREFERRED BIDDER FOR \n ADELAIDE DESALINATION OPERATIONS CONTRACT \n\nUnited Utilities has been selected by the South Australian Water Corporation as\npreferred bidder for a desalination operations contract in Adelaide, as part of\nthe AdelaideAqua consortium. The consortium comprises Acciona Agua, Abigroup,\nMcConnell Dowell and United Utilities Australia.\n\nThe design and construction phase of the project is expected to commence,\nsubject to major development approval, in the near future with Acciona Agua,\nAbigroup and McConnell Dowell building a new desalination seawater plant,\nscheduled to deliver first water in December 2010.\n\nOn completion of the plant in mid-2011, it is intended that United Utilities\nAustralia will operate this new facility under a separate 20-year operations\nand maintenance agreement via its joint venture with Acciona Agua.
