Indian steelmaker SAIL opens first Middle East office in Dubai to boost

[{"type":"text","content":"State-owned Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), one of\nIndia’s largest steel producers with an annual crude steel capacity\nexceeding 20mn tonnes, has opened its first representative office\nin the Middle East, in Dubai, according to a press release from the\ngovernment of India.\nIndia’s Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries, H.D. Kumaraswamy\ninaugurated the office. Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India\nin Dubai; SAIL’s chairman and managing director, Amarendu Prakash;\nand other senior officials were also present on the occasion.\nThis new office is a key step in SAIL’s global expansion\nstrategy. Positioned as a strategic hub, it is expected to boost\nsteel exports, strengthen industry partnerships, and deepen\nIndia-UAE trade ties. Also, Dubai being the gateway to the Middle\nEast and North Africa (MENA) region and its investor-friendly\nenvironment make it a suitable base for reaching emerging markets,\nthe government noted.\nThe initiative aligns with India’s goal of enhancing the global\npresence of its steel industry and achieving a national production\ntarget of 300mn tonnes by 2030.\nEarlier this month, Kumaraswamy met with UAE Minister of Economy\nAbdulla Bin Touq Al Marri to advance industrial cooperation under the India-UAE\nComprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
