(\"Northern Shield\" or the \"Company\") (TSXV: NRN) is pleased to provide an update on exploration at the Root & Cellar Gold-Tellurium-Silver-Copper Project (\"Root & Cellar\" or the \"Project\") located on the\n \n Burin Peninsula\n \n in southeastern\n \n Newfoundland\n \n . The Company can earn a 100% interest in the Property, which is being explored for epithermal gold-tellurium-silver and porphyry copper mineralization.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Crews are on site with mechanical trenching and trail preparation for a small drilling program underway.  The trenching is testing Induced Polarization (IP) geophysical anomalies in the Conquest Zone and in areas where abundant boulders containing visible gold have been found.  The drilling program planned for late August or early September will also focus on near-surface mineralization and IP anomalies in the Conquest Zone.  The program, as currently planned, will consist of approximately 8 drill holes totalling 500 metres.
