His resignation will take effect, and he will step down from the Board, at the end of today. \n \nJacques Vaillancourt, Executive Chairman of MAFL, said: \"The Board would like to thank Alastair for the contribution he has made to MAFL and we wish him every success with his future endeavours. On a more personal note, I have very much enjoyed working with Alastair. His daily contributions were always sage, considered and of great value.\"\n \nThe Company also announces that James (\"Jamie\") Lesser has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of Mineral & Financial Investments effective as of 1 January 2018. Jamie is a co-founder of Chalkstone Partners, a political risk and community relations advisory firm. Previously, Jamie was a Director at HSBC Global Banking and Markets. Jamie has 17 years' experience in capital markets, 12 years of which focused on the mining sector. Additionally, Jamie's work experience includes roles at Fairfax IS, Natixis Bleichroeder, Seymour Pierce, Panmure Gordon and Credit Suisse First Boston.
