[{"type":"text","content":"\n \n\n\n\nFRANKFURT, Germany, October 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Accumulated maximum takeoff \nweights (MTOWs) at Frankfurt\nAirport (FRA) increased again during the reporting month of September 2008.\nAdvancing by 1.2 percent to 2,465,417 metric tons, this was the second\nhighest monthly MTOW figure recorded to date. Widebody aircraft now account\nfor over 25 percent of FRA's total traffic volume. Because widebody jets are\npredominantly deployed on long-haul routes Fraport benefits over\nproportionately from the growth in revenue from aircraft charges and the\nhigher consumer spend typical of intercontinental passengers.\n\n\n\n As for the other traffic results in September 2008, there was\na breaking effect caused by the previous jump in kerosene costs and cooling\nof the world economy. This is reflected by slightly receding traffic figures.\n4,834,475 passengers (3.9 percent fewer) used FRA in September 2008. Monthly\nairfreight throughput dropped by 5.4 percent to 170,396 metric tons. Aircraft\nmovements slipped by 0.9 percent year-on-year to 42,119 takeoffs and\nlandings.\n\n\n\n From January to September 2008 Frankfurt Airport welcomed a\ntotal of 41,083,538 passengers - up slightly by 0.1 percent. FRA's airfreight \nrose by 1.2 percent to 1,555,397 metric tons. During the same period aircraft \nmovements dropped by 0.7 percent to 368,236 takeoffs and landings. Due to the \nelimination of FRA's overnight domestic mail hub, airmail volume fell as \nexpected by 3.2 percent to 65,885 metric tons.\n\n\n\n Combined, the Fraport Group's six majority-owned airports\nrecorded a 1.9 percent jump in traffic to 61,024,622 passengers for the\nJanuary-to-September 2008 period. Particularly strong passenger development\nwas achieved by Peru's Lima Airport (LIM), up 11.8 percent growth, and\nTurkey's Antalya Airport (AYT), up 8.4 percent. In contrast, Burgas (BOJ) and\nVarna (VAR) airports on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast registered less than\nexpected passenger traffic (minus 0.7 percent and minus 3.5 percent,\nrespectively). The Group's cargo throughput (airfreight plus airmail) surged\nby 2.9 percent to 1,871,441 metric tons, while aircraft movements climbed by\n2.1 percent to 556,640 takeoffs and landings.\n\n\n\n In the cargo category, Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN) achieved\ngrowth of 22.7 percent or 93.758 metric tons in the first nine month...
