The Lulu Zone, a gold, silver and base metal-enriched zone of stringer and semi-massive sulphides having the same geochemical and geological characteristics as the Eskay deposit, has produced tantalizing intersections including 14.4 gpt gold and 1059.5 gpt silver across 14 metres, and 11.7 metres of 19.5 gpt gold and 1,602.9 gpt silver. Though discovered some time ago, the mineralization is truncated by a major fault and past operators couldn’t find any further extensions of the zone.Eskay Mining’s last drill program revealed that the Coulter Creek thrust fault intersects and displaces the Lulu Zone both in the downdip direction as well as along strike to the south. The drill results also confirmed that they intersected the periphery of Lulu Zone style mineralization. This summer’s program aimed to find the fault-displaced continuation of Lulu’s high-grade material.Paul McGuigan, P.
