Pereira, Ph.D., has joined ARIUS as Vice\nPresident of Research.\nDr. Pereira comes to ARIUS after 8 years at ImClone Systems Incorporated\n(\"Imclone\") where he was Director of the Tumor Biology department. In his most\nrecent role at ImClone, Dr. Pereira directed antibody target identification\nefforts, lead and authored a publication on the RON antibody project, and was\na member of the steering committee for the company's antibody projects.\n\"We are delighted to welcome Dr. Pereira to ARIUS as a senior member of\nthe management team,\" said Dr. David S. Young, President and Chief Scientific\nOfficer of ARIUS. \"With his leadership and scientific insight we can look\nforward to building new value into our pipeline and intellectual property\nportfolio, which in turn will add value for partnerships and future deals.\"\nDr. Pereira brings extensive research experience in discovery,\ncharacterization and development of anti-cancer antibodies. Reporting to Dr.\nYoung, he will manage a team of scientists and will be responsible for\ncontinued innovation to ARIUS' FunctionFIRST Platform and pre-clinical\ncharacterization of ARIUS' functional antibodies.\nIn 1994, Dr. Pereira received his doctorate from McMaster University\nwhere he was a Doctoral Fellow of the Cancer Research Society of Canada. He\nlater joined Dr. John Dick's Laboratory at the University of Toronto as a\nTerry Fox post-doctoral research fellow of the National Cancer Institute of\nCanada.
