Reports High-Grade Interception at Hole NH06-102
LAKEWOOD, CO, Feb. 15 /CNW/ - NewWest Gold Corporation (TSX:NWG) ("NewWest") today announced reverse-circulation (RC) drill results from its North Hill deposit on the Sandman Project, located in Humboldt County, Nevada. The RC drilling extended mineable-grade gold mineralization around the eastern side of the deposit. Hole NH06-102 encountered 50 feet of 0.181 oz Au/ton between 145 and 195 feet, including intervals with grades up to 0.614 oz Au/ton.
These results are part of NewWest's Phase Two drilling program at its Sandman Project, where four deposits are being advanced: North Hill, Southeast Pediment, Silica Ridge and Abel Knoll. These represent the third set of Phase Two results reported from the Sandman Project. NewWest also reported the successful extension of gold mineralization as part of its Phase Two drilling program from the Southeast Pediment and Silica Ridge deposits on December 21, 2006 and February 1, 2007, respectively.
"Results from North Hill's Phase Two Drilling Program continue to expand North Hill's mineralization," said Steve Alfers, President and Chief Executive Officer. "We continue to demonstrate continuity of mineable grades, with local high grade, similar to other deposits at Sandman. Hole NH06-102 exemplifies this characteristic."
Phase Two drilling at North Hill consisted of 19 angle and vertical RC rotary holes with total footage of 5,160 feet and established a deposit at the Northwest Zone of North Hill that is at least 1,200 feet long by 1,100 feet wide. Fifteen of the 19 holes intersected significant gold mineralization. This Northwest Zone contains local internal occurrences of very high-grade mineralization with as yet undefined geometry. Complete Phase Two results and a drill-hole location map are available on the News page of NewWest's website at www.newwestgold.com.
The Phase Two drilling program is continuing at both North Hill and Abel Knoll. At North Hill, four HQ core holes are underway with total design footage of 705 feet. These are the first core holes to be drilled at North Hill, and as such, are an important part of grade verification for the deposit. NewWest expects core drilling at North Hill and core and RC drilling at Abel Knoll to be complete in February. NewWest plans to complete a NI43-101 compliant resource at the Sandman Project by the end of Q1 2007.
