Newton Gold Announces Results of Independent Committee Review
Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA, September 19, 2011 /FSC/ - Newton Gold Corp. (NWG - TSX Venture)("Newton Gold" or the "Company") announced today that an Independent Committee (the "Committee") of the Board of Directors of Newton Gold was struck to consider the potential impact on the Company of the proceedings commenced by the British Columbia Securities Commission against Mark McLeary, a director and officer of the Company, as described in the Company's news release of August 11, 2011, and to recommend an appropriate course of action. The Committee, with the assistance of independent counsel, reviewed these matters and the members have unanimously determined that it is in the best interests of the Company that Mr. McLeary continue to act as the President and CEO and as a director of the Company notwithstanding the commencement of the proceedings. As noted in the earlier news release, these allegations have not been proven. Mr. McLeary has advised the Board that he strongly refutes these allegations and intends to vigorously defend all allegations brought by Commission staff and he is confident he will be cleared of any wrongdoing in relation to the affairs of the unrelated company to which these proceedings relate.
