TORONTO, Nov. 10 /CNW/ - Anatolia Minerals Development Limited ("Anatolia" or the "Company") (TSX: ANO) announces flotation test results for its 100% owned Karakartal copper-gold porphyry property in east-central Turkey. Karakartal is located approximately 15 km southeast of Anatolia's Copler Gold Project, which is currently under construction.
Locked cycle flotation testing of a composite sample from recent diamond drilled holes demonstrates a high level of amenability of Karakartal ores to recovery using standard flotation techniques. Head assays, recoveries and metal values in concentrate are reported below. A more detailed report of the locked cycle flotation test is posted on Anatolia's website (www.anatoliaminerals.com).
Cu Au Ag Head Assays 0.34% 0.39 gpt 1.00 gpt Recoveries 91.58% 81.22% 34.5% Concentrate Metal Values 25.20% 24.40 gpt 23.00 gpt
The composite test sample was generated by combining approximately 110 kg of drill core samples from Karakartal drill holes KDD-006, KDD-007 and KDD-009. Sub-samples were utilized to determine mineralogy, work index, grind optimization, reagent optimization and flotation characteristics. The highest flotation recoveries for both copper and gold were for grind sizes in the range of 80% passing (P80) 106 microns to a P80 of 90 microns. Ore composite grindability test data at 106 microns indicated a calculated Bond Mill Work Index value of 14.1 KWhr/t (kilowatt hours/tonne).
Edward Dowling, President and CEO of Anatolia stated, "This first round of metallurgical testing is very encouraging and indicates a simple flotation circuit can produce a clean, high quality concentrate. Several opportunities to optimize copper and gold recoveries were identified and will be evaluated in future test-work. We expect these results to favorably affect the preliminary assessment being prepared for Karakartal."
The Karakartal porphyry system is characterized by a dioritic to monzonitic intrusive located in a package of hornfelsed metasediments and limestones. The limestones and metasediments represent the Jurassic/Cretaceous Munzur Formation. The metasediments are the lower portion of this sequence and have been widely hornfelsed and locally mineralized by the younger intrusive event. Alteration is dominated by a sericite/pyrite phyllic phase (most commonly within the hornfels) and a strongly developed potassically altered core within the system (most commonly in the intrusive). Mineralization is characterized by chalcopyrite, pyrite and a magnetite stockwork with some silica veinlets.
