[{"type":"text","content":"\n Ten Alps PLC\n18 April 2008\n\nPress Release 18 June 2008\n\n\n Ten Alps expands local authority online TV\n\nTen Alps Plc, the factual media company, continues its development of local\nauthority online TV through the expansion of Kent TV (www.kenttv.com).\n\nTen Alps is also in discussion with other local authorities - amongst the 217\nfor whom Ten Alps already produces media - for provision of similar local online\nTV.\n\n\n Kent TV\n\nKent TV, the first fully local authority-funded broadband TV service, will next\nweek expand to 15 channels, and has moved to the Maidstone Studios media\ncomplex.\n\nThe new channels will include:\n\n • A 'How To' information service, covering anything from finding a reliable\n car mechanic to how to appeal against school selection procedures;\n • A History channel which taps into the vast wealth of Kent's history - from\n St Augustine to the Battle of Britain\n • A Food channel which will focus on local produce, restaurants and farmers'\n markets\n • A What's On service for residents and tourists.\n\nKent TV was launched six months ago by long-time Kent resident and Ten Alps\nco-founder Bob Geldof, following a Kent County Council tender process. It is\navailable on demand and relevant to all those who live, work, visit or study in\nthe county.\n\nSince launching, it has featured major local news stories as well as features on\nart, business, sport, history and the environment. Kent TV currently offers 700\nfilms on a wide range of topics relating to the county, many commissioned from\nlocal production companies or submitted by local film-makers and community\ngroups.\n\n\n Ten Alps and local authority media\n\nTen Alps works with 70% of local authorities in England and Wales (or 217\nclients) in print media.\n\nTen Alps is currently in discussions with some of these regarding local online\nTV services, building on the experience of the Kent TV project. There is also\nsignificant opportunity to bid for other online video communications work in the\npublic sector.\n\n\nAlex Connock, CEO of Ten Alps, said:\n\n'Kent TV gives the local community a voice, just as mainstream broadcasters are\ncutting local TV news.
