FYIMusic.ca will provide music\nindustry news, event information, and a spotlight on Canadian performers.\n\n\nFYI launched April 7th, the day following the annual Juno Awards,\nCanada's music industry salute to its performers, composers and arrangers. FYI\nprovided reports from Calgary where the event was staged, capturing the\nbehind-the-screen dramas and the jubilation of winners and their teams.\n\n\nDespite ranking in the top six record markets worldwide, Canada has been\nwithout an authoritative trade publication for several years. Initial response\nto the launch of FYI has been enthusiastic with many in the industry\ncommenting that the business is long overdue in having a trade to report on\ndevelopments and connect the industry coast-to-coast. The site will be\nup-dated daily with a weekly summary sent out to several thousand dedicated\ne-mail addresses belonging to musicians, managers, agents, talent buyers,\nrecord companies, promoters, music publishers, broadcasters and the media.\n\n\nDavid Farrell, a founding partner of FYIMusic and veteran Canadian music\nindustry reporter, helms FYIMusic.ca as editorial director. Farrell, who\npreviously co-published The Record, has been reporting on Canada's music\nindustry for over 30 years. Farrell will be joined by Richard Flohil, a\nlongtime music journalist and raconteur.
