[{"type":"text","content":"\n Xaar PLC\n03 December 2007\n\n\nFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 3 December 2007\n\n Xaar plc\n\n INKJET SOLUTION FOR LCD SCREEN MANUFACTURING\n\nXaar plc ('Xaar'), the inkjet printing technology group headquartered in \nCambridge, announces that its customer, Nakan Corporation ('Nakan') has launched\na production machine for use in LCD screen manufacturing incorporating Xaar \nprintheads.\n\nNakan, a world leader in the manufacture of LCD-TFT process technology and \nequipment, has successfully installed its first GEN5.5 polyimide (PI) alignment\n-layer inkjet printing platform for manufacturing LCD screens of up to 1,300 cm \nby 1,500 cm at one of the world's leading manufacturers of LCD screens. The PI \nalignment layer is a key process in the production of all LCD screens and the \nnew Nakan platform offers a cost-effective, fully scaleable inkjet printing \nsolution for any substrate size.\n\nThe printing platform incorporates large arrays (16 printheads or more) of\nXaar's advanced multi-pulse greyscale Xaar760 printhead which enables\nsingle-pass coating with high-precision and control. By using Xaar's multi-pulse\ninkjet technology the new platform achieves excellent drop placement and volume\ncontrol, creating thin, highly uniform coats with sharply defined edges and a\ncorresponding reduction in materials usage and scrap for the manufacturer.\n\nXaar's Advanced Applications Technology Group worked closely with Nakan to\ndevelop the deposition processes and conditions to ensure industry requirements\nare met fully.
