[{"type":"text","content":"\n Xaar PLC\n17 July 2007\n\n\nFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 17 July 2007\n\n Xaar plc\n\n APPOINTMENT OF RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR\n\nXaar plc ('Xaar' or 'the Company'), the inkjet printing technology group\nheadquartered in Cambridge, is pleased to announce that Mr Ramon Borrell has\nbeen appointed Research & Development Director and a Director of the Company\nwith effect from 27 August 2007. Steve Temple, currently Technical Director,\nwill be stepping down from the board and from full time employment with the\ncompany at the end of September but will continue to advise Xaar as a consultant\nand in particular will work with Mr Borrell over the balance of this year to\nensure a smooth hand-over.\n\nRamon Borrell, aged 43, is a Spanish citizen. He will be joining Xaar from\nHewlett-Packard ('HP') where he has worked since 1994. Most recently he has been\nSenior New Product Development Manager within HP's Large Format Printing\nDivision which develops large format inkjet printing machines for sale\nworld-wide. Immediately prior to that appointment, Ramon was Director of\nTechnology Strategy and R&D Chief Product Architect for the same HP division. He\nis a Member of the Imaging Science and Technology Society where he was elected\nas Vice President and Secretary of the Board of Directors in 2006.\n\nSteve Temple has been with Xaar since its inception in 1990 and has been the\nprincipal architect of its world-leading inkjet technology. Under his technology\nleadership, Xaar has registered more than 90 patents. More recently he has\nfocused his attention on establishing a technology roadmap to enable Xaar to\nwiden its range of potential markets, and is the inventor of Xaar's unique\nPlatform 3 product which was launched earlier this year.\n\nIan Dinwoodie, Chief Executive commented:\n\n'I would like to express our warmest thanks to Steve Temple for the huge\ncontribution he has made to Xaar since joining the company at its inception in\n1990.
