(\"SRC\") announced today that the Board of Directors of WestFire Energy Ltd.\n (\"WestFire\" or the \"Company\") (TSX:WFE), of which SRC currently holds approximately 19.5% of its\n common shares and approximately 99.4% of its non-voting convertible\n shares, or approximately 34% on a diluted basis, has decided to\n initiate a process to identify, examine and consider a range of\n strategic alternatives available to the Company with a view to\n enhancing shareholder value.\n\n\nWestFire has announced that strategic alternatives may include, but are\n not limited to, a sale of all or a material portion of the assets of\n WestFire, either in one transaction or in a series of transactions, the\n outright sale of the Company, or merger or other transaction involving\n WestFire and a third party.  For the purposes of considering strategic\n alternatives, WestFire has established a special committee consisting\n of independent directors, John Brussa (Chair), Christopher Fong and\n Roger Thomas and the Company's Executive Chairman, Ed Chwyl (being a\n non-voting member) to oversee the process.  WestFire has engaged\n Cormark Securities Inc. as its financial advisor in connection with the\n process.\n\n\nAbout WestFire\n\n\nWestFire is a Calgary, Alberta based oil and gas exploration,\n development and production company whose shares are traded on the\n Toronto Stock Exchange under the trading symbol of \"WFE\".\n\n\nAbout Sprott Resource Corp.\n\n\nSRC is a Canadian-based company, the primary purpose of which is to\n invest and operate in natural resources.  Through acquisitions, joint\n ventures and other investments, SRC seeks to provide its shareholders\n with exposure to the natural resource sector for the purposes of\n capital appreciation and real wealth preservation.
