The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame celebrates individuals who make\n \n Canada's\n \n mining industry a global leader. It recognizes outstanding achievement in the mining industry and aims to inspire future generations in mining.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Mr. Corman was born in\n \n St. Catharines, Ontario\n \n and earned a Bachelor of Science (Geology) from\n \n Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute\n \n in\n \n New York\n \n in 1961. His early successes in the 1970's include the high-grade\n \n Sturgeon Lake\n \n base metal mine in\n \n Ontario\n \n , the\n \n Lake George\n \n antimony mine in\n \n New Brunswick\n \n and the Cullaton Lake gold mine in\n \n Nunavut\n \n . In subsequent decades he led several\n \n Vancouver\n \n -based junior companies, notably Western Copper Corp. which later through a name change became Western Silver Corp. Mr. Corman's career highlights include the discovery by Western Copper Holdings and Teck, of the world-class\n \n San Nicolas\n \n deposit, as well as the Penasquito mine in central\n \n Mexico\n \n . Penasquito ultimately became\n \n Mexico's\n \n largest gold mine, second largest silver mine and an important asset for current operator Newmont Corporation.
