Feb. 18, 2010 (Filing Services Canada) -- Tri Origin Exploration Ltd. (TOE - TSX Venture), (the "Company" or "Tri Origin") is pleased to announce that it may acquire a 100% interest in the North Abitibi gold project which had previously been explored by the Company. The North Abitibi Project (the "Property") is comprised of 16 claims covering an area of 7,076 acres located 150 kilometres north of Kirkland Lake, Ontario.
The property is located within the Abitibi Greenstone Belt of Ontario, one of the world's most prolific metal-producing regions. It is approximately 40 kilometres west of the Casa Berardi gold mine and in the same geological terrain as a number of past and currently producing gold and base metal districts and mines including Matagami, Joutel, Selbaie and the Detour Lake Mine.
Tri Origin has explored the area in the past and believes that it exhibits a number of promising geological features which may be associated with as yet undiscovered gold orebodies. The Company is pleased to have re-established its interest in the area under favourable commercial terms and is looking forward to re-commencing exploration in the area during the coming season.
The property is comprised of 2 parts. Vista Gold Corp. ("Vista") currently holds 7 of the North Abitibi mineral claims totalling 3,376 acres and will transfer 100% interest in its claims to Tri Origin. The Company must incur expenditures of $1.0 million on the Property in order to fully vest this interest within the next 5 years. Upon Tri Origin completing a total of $2.0 million of expenditure on the property, Vista then has the option to take-back an undivided fifty-one percent interest in the Property by delivering to Tri Origin a written notice committing to incur an additional $4,000,000 of expenditures on the Property over the subsequent three year period. Tri Origin has an option to acquire 100% interest in the remaining 9 claims covering 3,700 acres under an agreement reached in March 2007 with North American Exploration Ltd.
