Alastair Hewgill, interim chief executive, has agreed to remain with Vitec for an appropriate handover period in order to allow an orderly transition.\n\nStephen Bird, aged 48, has been divisional managing director of Weir Oil & Gas, part of Weir plc, since 2005. He has a broad range of UK and International experience having previously worked at Danaher, Black & Decker, Unipart Group, Hepworth PLC and Technicolour Group and he is currently a non-executive director of UMECO plc. Stephen is a graduate of St John's College, Cambridge.\n\nMichael Harper, Chairman of Vitec, said:\n\n'I am pleased to welcome Stephen to Vitec. The Board looks forward to his input in guiding the Group through the next stage of its progression and development.\n\n'I would also like to express the Board's gratitude to Alastair Hewgill who has executed his roles as Finance Director and, latterly, as Interim CEO with professionalism and dedication.
