In addition, Jay M. Short, Ph.D. has been appointed\nChairman of the Board replacing R. Ian Lennox who announced his resignation\nfrom the Board.\n\"We are extremely pleased with Bob Rieder's appointment to our Board of\nDirectors,\" commented Gregory M. We would like to take this\nopportunity to sincerely thank Ian Lennox for his dedicated service and\nsignificant contribution to the Company.\"\nMr. Rieder joined Cardiome in April of 1988 as President and Chief\nExecutive Officer, and was recently appointed as the Company's Vice Chairman\nof the Board. Mr. Rieder has extensive experience in venture capital and in\noperational management. Prior to joining Cardiome, he was Vice President at\nMDS Ventures Pacific Inc., the Vancouver-based affiliate of MDS Capital Corp.,\nand has served as a director for nine public and private technology companies.\nIn his venture capital career, Mr. Rieder led several rounds of financing for\nStressgen and was a director of the Company from 1992 until 2000. Prior to\njoining MDS, Mr. Rieder was President and Chief Executive Officer of Synapse\nTechnologies and Chief Operating Officer of DBA Telecom Inc. Mr. Rieder\nreceived his BASc (Chem. Eng.) from the University of British Columbia and his\nMBA from the University of Western Ontario.\nDr. Short has served on the Stressgen Board of Directors for twelve\nyears. In 2005, Dr. Short became Chairman, President and Founder of the E. O.\nWilson Biodiversity Foundation in San Diego, California.
