[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\n\nOTTAWA, May 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Allen-Vanguard Corporation (TSX: VRS) today\nannounced that it has been awarded a contract to equip the United States\nMilitary with sophisticated rigging equipment designed to assist bomb\ntechnicians with the disposal of suspect explosive devices remotely.\nThe total purchase value of $1.2 million (all figures in Canadian\ndollars) is in addition to $1.8 million of orders received by the same client\nover the last six months to equip military bomb disposal or EOD teams.\nDelivery of the products is expected to be completed by the end of September\n2005.\n\"This particular order is significant in a couple of ways,\" said Roy\nPeers-Smith, President and CEO of Allen-Vanguard. \"Firstly, it is being\npurchased through a formal centralized equipment purchase program designed to\nequip military EOD units across the board for this entire military customer,\nhence becoming a standard. Also, this military order clearly demonstrates that\nthe market for these types of products clearly goes beyond sales to state and\nlocal governments.\"\nThe order announced today includes rigging systems for remote bomb\ndisposal called \"Hook and Line\" or \"HAL(R)\" systems. HAL(R) systems are in\nservice with the military and security forces of over 120 countries and used\nto train bomb technicians in specialist rigging techniques for gaining remote\naccess to, and for the clearance and render safe of, explosive devices.\nThe US military which has been purchasing this type of equipment from the\ncompany for the past 4 years.
