[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\nOTTAWA, Dec. 15 /CNW Telbec/ - Allen-Vanguard Corporation (TSX: VRS)\n("Allen-Vanguard" or the "Company") of Ottawa, Canada today announced that it\nhas been awarded a contract from General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada (GDLS-C)\nto provide the Commander Blast Seat for the Stryker vehicle. The contract is\nfor a quantity of 2,178 seats at a value of approximately $15.3 million, with\nfirst deliveries to begin in the second quarter of the Company's fiscal 2009\nyear. All amounts are in Canadian dollars unless otherwise specified.\n\n\n"This is a very significant win for our new line of proprietary blast\nseat products," said David E. Luxton, President and CEO. "Government test\nresults have confirmed its superior performance in vehicle occupant\nsurvivability, and we are very pleased to have been selected to contribute to\nthe ongoing effort to protect the lives of servicemen and women in harm's\nway."\n\n\nAllen-Vanguard derived the blast seat technology from its deep experience\nand science base in mitigation of blast effects, resulting in a family of\nproprietary, purpose-built seats engineered from the ground up for enhanced\ncrew survivability against explosive devices. These products are one of the\nmany proprietary products the Company has been developing in its Personal\nProtection Systems division. This division comprises established products such\nas bomb suits, bomb tools and robots and new proprietary products including\nmicro climate systems, blast protection seats and specialized personal armor\nto protect against improvised explosive devices (IEDs).\n\n\n"Increased vehicle armor has been saving vehicles but not necessarily the\ncrew," commented Mr. Luxton.
