Dr. Febbo, a distinguished industry and academic leader, will lead Veracyte’s global team of research and development, medical affairs, clinical affairs, quality, regulatory affairs, and lab director professionals to help advance novel tests that address important unmet patient-care needs in cancer. He most recently served as chief medical officer for Illumina where he built the medical team and led the successful strategy to engage clinical customers. Prior to that, he was chief medical officer for Genomic Health, where he oversaw the development and expansion of the company’s test portfolio, including the evidence demonstrating clinical validity and clinical utility in order to drive reimbursement. Before Genomic Health, Dr. Febbo was a professor of medicine and urology at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, and prior to that he was an associate professor of medicine and molecular genetics and microbiology at Duke University School of Medicine. He currently serves on the board of the Reagan Udall Foundation for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Dr. Febbo holds a B.A. in Biology from Dartmouth College and earned his M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco.
