Systems Xcellence announces membership in Emergis DIS Consortium selected to negotiate with Newfoundland and Labrador for drug information system project

MILTON, ON, Aug. 22 /CNW/ - Systems Xcellence Inc., ("SXC" or the
"Company") (TSX: SXC) a leading provider of healthcare information technology
solutions throughout the pharmaceutical supply chain, today announced its
membership in the Emergis DIS Consortium. The consortium has been selected by
The Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information to enter into
exclusive negotiations, which could potentially lead to a contract for the
development and implementation of a comprehensive pharmacy network or drug
information system (DIS). Neither the outcome, nor the scope of the
negotiations, nor the value of any potential resulting contract can be
evaluated at this time.
"We are very pleased to be a key technology partner in the Emergis DIS
Consortium, and that the consortium has been selected to proceed to the next
step of the negotiation process with the Province of Newfoundland and
Labrador," said Gordon S. Glenn, President and CEO of SXC.
Drug information systems are a key component of the electronic health
record program that Canadian Provincial governments will be implementing in
the coming years with support of the Federal government. DIS provides, amongst
other things, authorized physicians and pharmacists with a secure access to a
complete medication profile of patients, allowing the secure exchange of
relevant and current pharmaceutical information.
SXC is a member of the Emergis-led DIS Consortium (TSX: EME), which also
includes Courtyard Group Ltd. and zedIT Solutions.
