El Salvador delegation discusses cross-border collaboration with SEC

Valereum Plc (AQSE: VLRM) is excited to share the news that Carmen Elena Ochoa de Medina, Head of El Salvador, VLRM Markets S.A. de C.V. (VLRM Markets), was part of an exclusive four-person delegation that met the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on 22 April 2025. The meeting focused on exploring collaboration opportunities, including the potential to establish a cross-border digital asset regulatory sandbox.

The aims of the sandbox include the testing and development of digital asset products under the regulatory oversight of both U.S. and Salvadoran authorities, with an emphasis on two key pilot programs:

●   Real estate tokenisation: A U.S. licensed broker working with a Salvadoran tokenisation firm to launch real estate tokenisation projects.

●   Small business capital raising: A Salvadoran small business raising capital through tokenised equity, in collaboration with a U.S. licensed broker-dealers.

The delegation to the SEC meeting included Carmen Elena Ochoa de Medina, of VLRM Markets, as well as the President of El Salvador's Comisión Nacional de Activos Digitales (CNAD), a partner of Perkin Law Firm, and a former partner of Goldman Sachs. Carmen's participation underscores VLRM Markets' commitment to leading innovation in the digital asset space and its support for the ongoing global push for digital asset tokenisation.

SEC Chair Paul Atkins' Commitment to Digital Asset Regulation

Following his swearing-in on 21 April 2025, SEC Chair Paul Atkins emphasised his aim to establish a "firm regulatory foundation for digital assets." He stated: "A top priority of my chairmanship will be to provide a firm regulatory foundation for digital assets through a rational, coherent and principled approach. We will work to ensure that the United States is the best and most secure place in the world to invest and to do business."

Adrian Hogg, Head of VLRM Markets, comments:

"We are thrilled that Carmen participated in this inaugural meeting with the SEC. Being part of such a prestigious delegation and having the opportunity to contribute to the conversation with the SEC is an important step for VLRM Markets. It showcases our commitment to playing a leading role in the global digital asset tokenisation."
