Appointment of Non-Executive Director

UNITED UTILITIES GROUP PLC United Utilities appoints Non-Executive Director United Utilities Group PLC today (21st February) announces the appointment of Sara Weller as a non-executive director with effect from 1st March 2012. Sara has wide-ranging business experience, having worked for Mars, Abbey National and Sainsbury's, before becoming Managing Director of Argos in 2004. She served on the Board of Mitchells and Butlers as the Senior Independent Director from 2003-2006 and also chaired its Remuneration Committee from 2003-2010. Currently, she is a Non-Executive Director of Lloyds Banking Group and Lead Non-Executive Director for the Department for Communities and Local Government. United Utilities' Chairman, Dr John McAdam said: "We are delighted Sara is joining the board of United Utilities given her extensive experience. Her understanding of customer facing businesses, together with her knowledge of operating within a regulated environment, will be major assets to the Board as the water industry prepares for the opening up of the sector to more competition."
