[{"type":"text","content":"\n \nRNS Number : 2350G Tristel PLC 10 May 2011  \n \n\n \nTristel plc \n(\"Tristel\" or \"the Company\")\nAIM: TSTL\n \nWipes System approved for sale in Australia and Hong Kong\n&\nAppointment of NZ distributor\n \nTristel plc, the manufacturer of infection control, contamination control and hygiene products, announces that it has received regulatory approval for the Tristel Wipes System from the Therapeutic Goods Association (TGA), the body that regulates disinfectant use in Australia, and from Hong Kong's Disinfectant & Sterilant Assessment Committee (DSAC).\n \nTristel's chlorine dioxide-based wipes are a highly effective, cost efficient and safe decontamination product for the small flexible endoscopes commonly used in the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) departments found in all hospitals worldwide.\n \nAs at December 2010 the Tristel Wipes System was used in two thirds of all acute hospitals in the UK and during the 6 months ended 31 December 2010 overseas sales represented 8.4% of the Group's Wipes System sales. \n \nThe expansion of the Tristel product range into overseas markets is a key driver of organic growth and as part of this expansion Tristel is expecting to gain shortly the relevant regulatory approval for the use of its Wipes System in the German public hospital sector and during the coming months from China. \n \nTristel also announces that it has signed an agreement with Tytex Ltd to distribute Tristel products to New Zealand hospitals. Tristel established its own subsidiary Tristel New Zealand Ltd in 2008.  It acts primarily as a product development and manufacturing hub. The appointment of a distributor in New Zealand will accelerate sales in the New Zealand healthcare market which is made up of 43 public and 35 private hospitals. With its limited selling effort to date, Tristel already supplies products to 21 of the smaller private hospitals in New Zealand and with its new distributor will be able to target sales into the larger public hospitals.\n \nThe Australian healthcare market is considerably larger incorporating 750 public and 290 private hospitals and following the TGA approval it is expected that the discussions that have already been taking place with potential Australian distribution partners will conclude shortly.\n \nPaul Swinney,...
