[{"type":"text","content":"\n \n\n\n\n\n For release 0700 21 April 2011\n\n Transense Technologies plc\n\n (\"Transense\" or the \"Company\")\n\n\n\n The AIM-listed technology transfer company\n\n\n\n Full commercial launch of new 'iProbe' multi-function tyre inspection tool\n\n\n\n(21 April, 2011)  Transense Technologies plc (AIM: TRT) is pleased to announce\nthe full commercial launch of its new 'iProbe' multi-function tyre inspection\ntool. Developed over a long period by its subsidiary Translogik and following\nconsultation with potential customers as to their requirements, the iProbe\nprovides wireless measurement of tread depth, tyre temperature and tyre pressure\ncombined with integrated RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag and TPMS\n(Temperature Pressure Monitoring System) sensor reading capabilities.\n\nCommercialisation\n\nThe first production run of probes has been fully sold to customers which\ninclude the world's three largest tyre manufacturers. Additionally, several\nfleet providers around the world have purchased the iProbe, and commenced\nsoftware integration work at their expense to integrate the iProbe with their\nsystems.\n\nDevelopment\n\nThe iProbe is a development of the existing technology from the current\nTranslogik Tread Depth & Pressure Probe. The iProbe builds upon this proven\ndesign and is constructed to an exacting specification, to meet the stringent\ndemands of the fleet tyre maintenance market.  Significant market research was\nundertaken during the product design phase to ensure that the iProbe fulfilled\nall the requirements of its target markets. Key amongst these was the need to\nhave sufficient read-range to interrogate RFID tags in 'dual-tyre'\nconfigurations - where the inside tyre tag can be up to 50cm away from the probe\nantenna. The Directors of Transense believe that attaining this read-range from\nan antenna small enough to fit within the compact dimensions of a tough,\nlightweight hand-held product represents a significant technical achievement by\nthe Translogik engineers.\n\nNew features\n\nThe ability to read and write to RFID tyre tags is a significant new feature as\ntyre manufactures begin to launch truck and bus tyres with embedded RFID tags,\nand patches incorporating RFID tags are increasingly adopted as an aftermarket\nsolution.
