("Sirit") (TSX: SI), a global provider\nof radio frequency identification ("RFID") technology, today announced that\nits IDentity 5100 readers and transponders have been selected for deployment\non the only automated toll road in Uruguay.\n\n\nCorporacion Vial del Uruguay ("CVU"), a government agency responsible for\noverseeing Uruguay's National Highway Concession program, has finalized plans\nto upgrade the Toll Collection System in all of the toll plazas operating in\nUruguay, selecting Sirit IDentity 5100 readers and transponders, which are\nbased on ISO 18000-6C open protocol and designed for long-range, high speed\nautomatic vehicle identification ("AVI") applications.\n\n\nThe automated toll system installation is a cooperative effort between\nTelsis S.A, a Uruguay based company, and Telectronica (www.telectronica.com),\na company with AVI installations in South America and Mexico, in conjunction\nwith support from Sirit.\n\n\nThe selection process for the AVI system was managed by CVU, who\nconducted a thorough evaluation of potential AVI solutions and narrowed the\nequipment down to two suppliers. Both prospective systems were installed and\ncomprehensive tests were carried out in the presence of officials and\ntechnical staff from each of the participating organizations. In the final\nevaluation, Sirit's IDentity 5100 solution was selected for its advanced\nperformance and reliability.\n\n\n"The selection of the Sirit IDentity 5100 readers and transponders as the\nsolution of choice recognizes the superior performance of Sirit's AVI products\nand confirms the industry's move towards standards-based solutions for global\nAVI applications," said Wolf Bielas, President, Latin America, Sirit.\n\n\nPhase one of the deployment included 12 readers and 20,000 transponders\noperating on Uruguay's main highway, connecting the City of Montevideo with\nthe City of Punta del Este.
