Sirit's INfinity 510 RFID Reader Continues to Win International Industry Nods

First reader to achieve both U.S. & European Dense Reader Mode

certification

TORONTO, Dec. 5 /CNW/ - Sirit Inc. ("Sirit") (TSX: SI), a leading provider of radio frequency identification ("RFID") technology, announced that following its award of both the hardware certification and interoperability marks, EPCglobal Inc. has awarded its compliance mark to Sirit for Dense Reader Mode ("DRM") for its INfinity 510 UHF RFID reader. EPCglobal Inc. is the not-for-profit organization whose mission is to drive the commercial adoption of the Electronic Product Code ("EPC") in global supply chains.

The certification mark signifies that hardware products have been tested and operate according to EPCglobal Inc. standards, such as the UHF Generation 2 ("Gen 2") version 1.09 standard ratified in December 2004. The DRM of operation is a specialized implementation of the Gen 2 standard that dramatically reduces interference between readers when many are used in close proximity to one another. DRM is an essential criterion for major companies looking to deploy RFID in their supply chain networks worldwide.

Robust Dense Reader Support

The INfinity 510 is built around exclusive subsystems engineered to handle high levels of interference, environmental noise and RFID activity. Support for Gen 2 DRM aids tag read/write processes in large-scale deployments, while features such as advanced singulation algorithms and robust interference rejection go beyond DRM standards to optimize read rates and air interface performance in a wide range of user scenarios.

"Sirit has already raised the bar for RFID fixed readers by developing the first worldwide reader and now is the first to be compliant to the EPCglobal DRM standards for both the US and Europe," said Norbert Dawalibi, President and CEO, Sirit Inc. "The INfinity 510 is being touted as the most robust reader on the market today by OEM partners and end users. To customers looking at using RFID in installations where many readers will be operational, such as a large warehouse or distribution centre, the EPCglobal certification for DRM now gives them the confidence of the performance capabilities of the INfinity 510."

The certification for DRM was conducted by MET Laboratories, a third-party, nationally-recognized testing facility located in Baltimore, Maryland.

"We extend our congratulations to Sirit's team for being the first company to achieve DRM certification in multiple markets," said Chris Adcock, President of EPCglobal Inc. "EPCglobal's hardware certification mark provides end users with the confidence that the products they are purchasing have been rigorously tested and will perform in predictable ways according to EPCglobal standards.

About Sirit's INfinity 510

The INfinity 510 was developed from the ground-up as a Gen 2 compliant multi-protocol reader and is delivering the best performance in its class. Now in production, the INfinity 510 has an advanced architecture designed to maximize tag read rates and range, simplify device management and support dense reader environments. It can also host complex memory-intensive middleware and custom applications. An array of features built into the INfinity 510 simplifies configuration and maintenance for both small and large-scale deployments. For quick and easy deployments, the INfinity 510 comes with installation wizards and the ability to easily define and assign reader profiles through configuration synchronization. Real-time device monitoring, including diagnostic and statistical reporting tools with user-configurable alarms, makes it possible to proactively track reader health. In addition, remote firmware upgrade functionality enables administrators to apply a single firmware release package to a group of readers without the need to upgrade each device manually.
