("Sirit") (TSX: SI), a leading\nprovider of radio frequency identification ("RFID") technology, today\nannounced that the INfinity 510 ("IN510") UHF reader was selected for\nFinland's postal delivery service RFID implementation. Readers have been\ninstalled across the country as part of a system to monitor and quantify the\nspeed and accuracy of real-time postal deliveries.\n\n\nFinn-ID, the leading auto-identification solutions provider in Finland,\ndeveloped and installed the application for the Mail Communications division\nof Itella, a contract services company that manages postal deliveries in\nFinland and throughout Europe. The implementation uses Sirit's IN510 to read\nGen 2 RFID tags embedded in envelopes that are tracked throughout the entire\ndelivery process. Selected envelopes, which are not identifiable by postal\nworkers, contain an RFID tag with a unique number. As these envelopes travel\nthrough the delivery and sorting process, the data relating to their movement\nis collected and transmitted to a back-end system. The system then provides\nanalyses on mail routing, length of time to deliver an item and other\nbenchmarks relating to level of service.\n\n\n"The decision process for selecting the best reader came down to features\nand performance," stated Kari Hanninen, technology manager at Finn-ID. "From a\nfeatures perspective, Sirit's IN510 allowed us to program an advanced script\nwhich resides within the reader to accommodate the use of photoelectric\nsensors along with managing data output to a legacy application. On the\nperformance side, the IN510 has excelled in successfully reading tags in a\nchallenging environment and continues to show why it was the top performing\nreader throughout our testing process."\n\n\n"Finn-ID has done a great job in replacing an expensive legacy solution\nbased on active RFID with a cost-effective implementation using Gen 2\ntechnology," added Tony Sabetti, vice president of RF Solutions at Sirit.\n"Their tunnel antenna system reads the tags in any orientation and provides\nthe high read-rate accuracy required by their customer. Sirit is pleased that\nour IN510 is successfully powerin...
