("Sirit") (TSX: SI), a leading\nprovider of radio frequency identification ("RFID") technology, announced\ntoday the release of a new firmware version for its best-in-class INfinity 510\n("IN510") UHF reader. The upgrade includes several important enhancements that\nfurther extend the industry leading feature set of the IN510.\n\n\nRegional regulatory compatibilities added include Australia, China,\nIsrael, South Africa and Taiwan, bringing the total to eighteen regions.\n\n\nThe new version 2.0 firmware includes advancements in Sirit's proprietary\ntag acquisition algorithms, enhancing tag singulation performance capabilities\nand reader sensitivity. The Dense Reader Mode interference tolerance has been\nfurther improved to new benchmark levels for the industry. The IN510 continues\nto be the only UHF reader with EPCglobal certification for use under both FCC\nand ETSI regulations.\n\n\nNew features added to the IN510 include support for the EPC Gen 2 custom\ncommands built into NXP's UCODE G2XM and G2XL chips. The custom commands\nextend the functionality of EPC Gen 2 applications beyond simple compliance\ntagging and provide extended value for end-users. Included among the custom\ncommands is Electronic Article Surveillance for increased theft protection and\nRead Protect, which prevents unauthorized reading of a tag and provides\nenhanced privacy protection. The EM4222 chip-set from EM Microelectronic is\nalso supported by the new firmware and operational enhancements were added for\nTexas Instruments' EPC Gen 2 chip.\n\n\n"The release of version 2.0 firmware for the IN510 is a significant\nupgrade in the functionality of a product that has an already established\nreputation for outstanding performance," commented Tony Sabetti, vice\npresident, RF Solutions for Sirit.
