[{"type":"text","content":"\n \nRNS Number : 6374K Evgen Pharma PLC 04 January 2016 \n \n\n\n\n\n\nFor immediate release\n\n\n4 January 2016\n\n\n\n\n \n \nEvgen Pharma plc \n (\"Evgen Pharma\" or \"the Company\")\nAppoints Chief Medical Officer \nEvgen Pharma plc (AIM: EVG), a clinical stage drug development company focused on the treatment of cancer and neurological conditions, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Hamina J Patel MB BCh MSc MRCPI as Chief Medical Officer.\nDr Patel is a pharmaceutical executive with more than 15 years' industry experience, leading global cross functional teams in the development and commercialisation of drugs primarily within the field of oncology. \nDr Patel was previously Director of Drug Development, Oncology, at Johnson and Johnson, where she helped to build a broad and differentiated portfolio of indications for the cancer drug VELCADE® and was instrumental in the success of a new indication (the second-line treatment of mantle cell lymphoma) based on a Phase II clinical study in more than 35 countries. She received numerous awards for her contribution to the Oncology group at Johnson and Johnson, including a Standard of Leadership award.\nIn addition to her small molecule expertise, Dr Patel has worked extensively in the development of biopharmaceuticals at Celltech and at Chugai.\nDr Patel qualified as a physician in 1990 and worked for almost ten years in hospitals around the UK before moving into the pharmaceutical industry.\nDr Stephen Franklin, Evgen Pharma's CEO, commented: \"We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Hamina Patel as Evgen's Chief Medical Officer.
