Using handheld devices,\nEmpire employees will track incoming and outgoing product, shop for\ntransportation rates and confirm delivery to customers.\n\"Customer service is the number one priority at Empire, so when we\nidentify an opportunity to improve it, we jump on it,\" said Ron Brown, Six\nSigma Black Belt and Project Manager for the program. \"Implementing a system\nthat will give customers the status of their products at any point in time and\nhelp ensure that products are delivered on time, every time, is a natural move\ngiven our customer service philosophy.\"\neTrac's query function will allow customers to go online and check the\nstatus of products en route to them. \"This will not only increase the amount\nof information available to customers, but will also reduce Empire's\nadministrative load,\" Brown said.\n\"The work we are doing at Empire is an extension of supply chain\nsolutions we have installed at other Caterpillar dealers,\" said Greg MacNeill,\nPresident of TECSYS' Logistics Management Group. \"This implementation is the\ntype of scenario we excel at-using advanced reporting and tracking as part of\na process that has a real impact on an organization.\"\nEmpire made the decision to go with TECSYS technology after recognizing\nthat a flow of real-time information between its existing warehouse management\nsystem, its order entry system and a transportation management system would\nimprove customer service. The new system will also impact the company's bottom\nline by increasing delivery accuracy and reducing the administrative expenses\nassociated with tracing deliveries.\n\nAbout Empire Southwest\n----------------------\n\nEmpire Southwest is the authorized Caterpillar dealer for heavy equipment\nand engines in Arizona, Southeastern California and portions of Northern\nMexico.
