Simon, 55, is a graduate of the Royal School\nof Mines at Imperial College, London and a UK Chartered Engineer with over 30\nyears experience in the operational, technical and financial aspects of mining\nindustry internationally. He has also undertaken post-graduate work on\ngeo-statistics at the University of Leeds and corporate finance at the London\nBusiness School. After an early career in operational management and technical\nconsulting, Simon joined the Head Office of Consolidated Gold Fields plc where\nhe served in both the Technical and Mining Investment Divisions until the\ncompany was taken over in 1989. Over the last fifteen years, Simon has worked\nfor a number of brokers and investment banks in the City, including T Hoare &\nCo, Evolution Beeson Gregory and Numis Securities, as a mining analyst\nspecialising in small and mid-cap mining companies and as associate director of\nthe specialist mining boutique, WCS Limited.\n\nSimon will take the position of Commercial Manager at Ovoca Gold with immediate\neffect. His role will focus on assisting the Chairman and CEO as Ovoca makes the\ntransition from a junior explorer to a developer and producer.\n\nOvoca Gold Chairman Roger Turner said 'I am pleased we can further strengthen\nour management with Simon's vast mining experience.
