[{"type":"text","content":"\n Traction Technology PLC\n10 July 2007\n\n\n Traction Technology Plc\n (AIM: TRAC)\n\n Launch of TRIBRID Power Pack\n\n\nTraction Technology Plc ('Traction' or 'the Company'), a designer and deliverer\nof environmentally friendly, low emission Series Diesel Electric Hybrid engine\nsystems, announces the launch of a new 'TRIBRID' product range for bus\noperators. TRIBRID is a power pack that has the ability to draw on three\nseparate power sources for use in bus engines.\n\n\nWhen the TRIBRID Power Pack is in use, power is automatically managed between\nthe diesel power unit, conventional batteries or from Supercapacitors.\nSupercapacitors are very high value capacitors that can store much larger\namounts of energy, to the point where they can act like batteries and propel the\nbus. They are capable of millions of charge and discharge cycles at high\ncurrents which make them highly suitable for hybrid vehicles.\n\n\nThe TRIBRID, by blending these three sources of energy, optimises the efficiency\nof the bus as it can vary the horse power, energy usage or battery capacity of\nthe bus to suit all requirements.\n\n\nTraction's development bus, an Optare Solo fitted as a TRIBRID, began road\ntesting on 4th July 2007, and will be demonstrated first at the CENEX event at\nLeeds on 20th July 2007, a UK Government initiative supported by the Department\nfor Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (formerly the DTI).\n\n\nTraction Technology's Technical Director, Richard Cooke commented;\n\n\n'Supercapacitors, with an operational life possibly exceeding the life of the\nbus itself, will, we believe, address operators' concerns on hybrid battery\nreplacement costs. We plan to satisfy most customers' requirements without the\nneed for storage batteries.
