John joined System C as a Non\nExecutive Director in February 2005. He graduated with an MA from Cambridge\nUniversity and a DPhil from Oxford University. In 1984 he joined Marconi Defence\nSystems as Technical Director and later became Director of Engineering at the\nIndependent Broadcasting Authority. He led the privatisation to create the\ncommunications company NTL, becoming its first Chief Executive. In 1996 he\njoined the venture capital company, 3i plc, and served on the board and its\nassociated committees until 2004.
