PLC\n03 August 2007\n\n3 August 2007\n\n\n SYMPHONY ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGIES PLC\n\n Appointment of Director\n\nSymphony Environmental Technologies plc ('Symphony' or 'the Company'), the\ndegradable plastics and waste-to-energy Group, is pleased to announce that Mr.\nMichael Stephen has accepted the Directors' invitation to join the Board as a\nnon-Executive Director and has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Company,\nand Chairman of its subsidiaries. He has been working alongside the Chairman\nand management team since 3 April 2007 to drive improvements in the Company's\nbusiness.\n\nMr. Stephen (64) qualified as a Solicitor with Distinction in Company Law. He\nwas later called to the Bar, and practised from chambers in London for many\nyears, dealing with civil cases in the High Court and Court of Appeal. He was\nelected to Parliament in 1992 and was a member of the Trade and Industry Select\nCommittee and the Environment Select Committee of the House of Commons. He\nserved in Government as Parliamentary Private Secretary at the Ministry of\nAgriculture.\n\nHe held a Harkness Fellowship in law at Stanford and Harvard Universities in the\nUSA, and was Deputy Legal Adviser to the British Ambassador to the United\nNations. For six years he delivered the Evelyn Wrench Memorial Lecture on\nAnglo-American Relations to the English- Speaking Union of the United States,\nand was a founder-member of the Leadership Seminars at the Georgetown University\nSchool of Foreign Service, Washington DC.\n\nBarrie Michael Lace Stephen is the owner of 36,764 Ordinary Shares and 1,300,000\nshare options in the Company. During the past five years Mr. Stephen has been a\nDirector of Severnside International Airport Ltd. and Severnside International\nAirport (Developments) Ltd. - dormant companies from which he has resigned.\nThere is no other information that is required to be disclosed under Schedule 2\nparagraph (g) of the AIM Rules.\n\nMichael Laurier, Chief Executive said 'We are delighted to welcome Michael\nStephen to the Board of Symphony.
