[{"type":"text","content":"\n \nRNS Number : 0083M Strategic Minerals PLC 09 August 2011 \n \n\n8 August 2011 \nStrategic Minerals Plc\n(\"Strategic Minerals\" or the \"Company\")\n \nIron Glen Update\n \nStrategic Minerals plc (AIM: SML) today announces that the 2011 drilling programme is advancing with a total of 29 RC holes drilled over a total of 3662 metres. All RC holes were drilled at the Iron Glen prospect targeting magnetite and base and precious metal skarn mineralisation. Two of the RC holes are precollars awaiting diamond core extensions, 2 are water bores and 2 were abandoned. The bulk of the analytical samples from these holes have been forwarded to assay laboratories for analysis. Results are being processed. \nThe diamond core drilling component of the programme is well underway. Planned diamond drilling is likely to take another 2 or 3 weeks. Four holes have been completed targeting magnetite and base metals at Iron Glen, these totalling 671.45m of diamond core. One hole is underway drilling under the outcropping lead-zinc-copper mineralisation at Lead Belly. It is currently at 65m depth. An additional 2 more diamond core samples are planned at Lead Belly, totalling approximately 150m. A further 3 diamond core tails and drill holes are planned at Iron Glen which total approx 170m. Samples will be forwarded to the assay laboratory for geochemical analysis after geological evaluation and processing of the diamond core is completed.\n \nCompetent Person's Statement\nThe information in this announcement that relates to exploration results is based on information compiled by Dr Simon D. Beams, a full time employee of Terra Search Pty Ltd, geological consultants employed by Strategic Minerals' wholly owned subsidiary, Iron Glen Pty Ltd. \n\nDr. Beams has BSc Honours and PhD degrees in geology; he is a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (Member #107121) and a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (Member # 2689).
