Stockland has officially opened Stockland Providence Town Centre, a new shopping destination in South Ripley, marking the latest completed development in Stockland's strategy to develop, own and manage neighbourhood town centres within its masterplanned communities.
Located in the heart of the Providence community, the town centre has been designed as a convenient and accessible destination that supports residents' day-to-day needs, while also creating a local place for people to connect.
Stage 1 of the $65 million centre spans more than 8,000 square metres and features almost 30 retailers and services, including a full-line Coles supermarket, a 140-place Green Leaves Early Learning childcare centre and Priceline Pharmacy, along with health and wellbeing services and a range of dining and takeaway options.
Marco Ettorre, Executive General Manager, Town Centres at Stockland, said the opening reflects Stockland's approach to delivering essentials-based town centres that support everyday life in growing communities.
"Stockland Providence Town Centre brings together the services people rely on most, from groceries and childcare to health, wellbeing and dining, all in a convenient, accessible local setting," Mr Ettorre said.
"By developing, owning and managing neighbourhood town centres within our masterplanned communities, we're creating places that can grow with the community, supporting liveability and day-to-day convenience as Providence continues to evolve."
"Delivering centres like Providence relies on strong partnerships across the public and private sectors, and today's milestone reflects our constructive relationship with Ipswich City Council in supporting sustainable, well-planned growth," Mr Ettorre added.
Sustainability is a key focus of the development, with Stockland targeting a 5 Star Green Star rating for the new town centre. Initiatives include a large-scale 440kVA rooftop solar system paired with a 770kW battery, helping support more efficient energy use and Stockland's commitment to responsible, future-focused development.
The town centre is also supporting local employment. During its construction, the retail development project supported more than 2,000 direct and indirect jobs. Now that it is open, the centre provides direct and indirect jobs to around 338 people.
The official ribbon-cutting event was attended by the Hon Shayne Neumann, Federal Member for Blair, Lance McCallum, Member for Bundamba, and Teresa Harding, Mayor of Ipswich City Council, alongside project partners and retailers who came together to celebrate the opening of the new centre.
Hon Shayne Neumann, Federal Member for Blair, said the new town centre would play an important role in supporting the region's rapid growth and improving everyday convenience for residents.
"The Ripley Valley Priority Development Area is one of the fastest growing areas in Queensland, and this new shopping centre will greatly improve liveability and convenience for local residents.
"I'm sure the new town centre will quickly become a vibrant hub where local residents can shop and socialise, while providing more local business opportunities. I commend Stockland for their vision for the local Providence community here in South Ripley, and for their investment in the local economy and local jobs in Ipswich."
Teresa Harding, Mayor of Ipswich City Council said Ipswich is Queensland's fastest growing city, with the Ripley Valley area at the forefront of growth.
"Targeted investment into these suburbs is critical to ensuring our city doesn't fall behind, and the ongoing delivery of modern facilities means more residents can work, learn and enjoy life right here in their own backyard."
Jackie Davison, Coles Providence Store Manager, said opening the new store was a proud milestone for the team and a meaningful addition to the growing South Ripley community.
"After 25 years with Coles, it's incredibly exciting to help open a brand-new store in such a fast-growing community and see the difference it will make for locals. Coles Providence has created more than 140 jobs for the local community, including more than 105 new starters.
"I'm so proud of the team we've built and there's a real sense of pride and excitement about opening our doors to the community. This store is about more than just groceries it's about filling a real need for the growing South Ripley community and making everyday shopping easier for local residents."
