[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\nTORONTO, Sept. 22 /CNW/ - Star Navigation Systems Group Ltd. (TSX-V: SNA)\n("Star" or the "Company"), a leading edge technology company focused on\nproviding Aerospace Solutions to aviation operators worldwide, announces that\nthe U.S. Patent and Trademark Office ("USPTO") has now completed its\nreexamination of Aeromechanical Services Ltd.'s (TSX-V: AMA) patent U.S.\n7,203,630 and clarified that the only point of innovation for the patented\ninvention is its use of conventionally understood email as a format when\ntransmitting data from an aircraft to a ground station. To the extent that\nAMA's products do not use email to transmit data from aircraft to ground\nstations or also use other formats, there is an open question whether AMA's\nproducts are actually covered by their own patent. However, Star remains\nconfident that AMA's products are covered by Star's patent rights under the\nearlier granted U.S. 7,113,852, the infringement of which being unaffected by\nthe reexamination of AMA's patent.\n\n\nTherefore, Star Navigation has already filed an amended complaint in the\nongoing patent infringement case in the Northern District of California to\nresolve the remaining procedural issues raised by AMA and Star looks forward\nto the Court's consideration of the past and ongoing infringement of Star's\npatent rights by AMA on the merits.\n\n\nAbout Star Navigation:\n\n\nStar Navigation Systems Group Ltd. (www.star-navigation.com) owns the\nexclusive worldwide license to its proprietary, patented In-flight Safety\nMonitoring System, the first system in the world to feature in-flight\ndata-analysis, monitoring and diagnostics with a real-time connection between\naircraft and ground. Its real-time capability of tracking performance-trends\nand predicting incident-occurrence enhances aviation safety and improves fleet\nmanagement while reducing costs for the operator.\n\n\nCertain statements contained in this News Release constitute forward-\nlooking statements.
