TORONTO, May 23 /CNW/ - Mr. Viraf Kapadia, Chairman and Co.-C.E.O. of Star Navigation Systems Group Ltd. ('Star"), developer of Flight Safety and Fleet Monitoring Systems, is pleased to announce that Star has now commenced installation of its' In-Flight Safety Monitoring System ("ISMS(TM)"), Flight Tracking and Satphone communications system on a Pakistan International Airlines ("PIA") Airbus A-310 aircraft. Installation will be completed shortly and evaluation will commence subsequent to operational activation approval by Transport Canada.
As previously announced, operational activation of this installation will allow PIA to assess the performance of the ISMS(TM) unit in normal commercial operations. Furthermore, it will also allow Star and PIA to determine how best to tailor Star's ISMS(TM) system to PIA's specific operational requirements.
Star's ISMS(TM) system, the first technology of its kind, along with the Flight Tracking and Satellite Telephone systems, will provide PIA operations with the real time information from the aircraft with respect to its technical status, as well as providing PIA business managers with the perspective needed to measure the bottom line on per flight basis. Star will interface the real time information from the aircraft with PIA's existing IT infrastructure for ease of use.
In addition, Star's ISMS(TM) system will provide the Engineering and Maintenance departments with real time fault detail to be rectified before the next flight. It will provide Flight Operations and Flight Safety with insights concerning FOQA (Flight Operations Quality Assurance) monitoring, which in turn allows PIA to take advantage of associated cost savings.
In short Star Navigation is providing PIA with the best available Asset/Flight Management solution.
A decision with respect to the purchase of ISMS(TM) units will be made by PIA after the completion of an analysis of the results from the trial evaluation.
