The Montreal Exchange files an application to the Autorite des marches financiers

(MX) (TSX: MXX)\nannounced today that it has filed an application to the Autorite des marches\nfinanciers (the "Autorite") for an amendment of its recognition as a\nself-regulatory organization and its authorization to carry on business as an\nexchange. The amendment to MX's recognition order is required in the context\nof its proposed combination with TSX Group Inc.\n\n\nThe Autorite issued a press release informing the public of the\nconsultation process that will be followed in regards to the MX application.\nThe press release and related documents published by the Autorite are\navailable on its website at www.lautorite.qc.ca.\n\n\nThe MX has given its rationale for supporting the combination with TSX\nGroup Inc. in a Management Proxy Circular issued on January 14, 2008. MX\nshareholders will vote on the proposal in a special general meeting to be held\non February 13.
