[{"type":"text","content":"\n \nRNS Number : 5411O SSE PLC 21 August 2017 \n\nSSE plc\nAPPOINTMENT OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR\n \nMartin Pibworth has been appointed Wholesale Director for SSE plc and will join the Board of the Company on 1 September 2017.\n \nMartin joined SSE in 1998 and has been a member of the company's Management Board and then Executive Committee since 2012. In his current role, he is responsible for energy portfolio management, electricity generation, gas production, gas storage and energy supply and related services for industrial and commercial customers; as Wholesale Director for SSE plc, he will have Board-level responsibility for these business activities and for SSE's businesses in Ireland. \n \nHis appointment means the number of Executive Directors on the Board of SSE plc will revert to three but does not affect significantly the responsibilities of Chief Executive, Alistair Phillips-Davies or Finance Director, Gregor Alexander. In addition to the Executive Directors, the Board has six independent non-Executive Directors and the Chairman. Of the 10 members of the Board, three are women.\n \nAll Directors stand for annual re-appointment at the Company's AGM and details of their remuneration are set out in the Company's Annual Report. The remuneration for SSE's new Wholesale Director will be consistent with SSE's Directors' Remuneration Policy, a summary of which can be found in SSE's 2017 Annual Report.\n \nThe Company confirms that no other disclosure needs to be made under Listing Rule 9.6.13R in respect of this appointment.\n \nRichard Gillingwater CBE, Chairman of SSE plc, said:\n\"I am very pleased that Martin will be joining the Board. We have concluded that he will bring outstanding knowledge of, insight on and passion for the energy sector and the critical role it plays in people's lives. \n \n\"He also shares the Board's commitment, and that of SSE as a whole, to ensuring shareholders receive a fair return on their investment through the payment of dividends and to responsible business practice generally.\n \n\"Martin already works very closely with Chief Executive Alistair Phillips-Davies and Finance Director Gregor Alexander and together they represent a very strong team of Executive Directors to lead SSE in the years ahead.\"\n ...
