[{"type":"text","content":"\n \n SOFTWARE RADIO TECHNOLOGY PLC \n\n AIS Distribution Agreement & Order Received \n\nThe Directors of Software Radio Technology plc (\"SRT\" or the \"Company\"), the\nAIM-quoted developer of digital wireless communications technology, are pleased\nto announce that it has signed an AIS OEM Distribution Agreement with Marine\nElectronics Systems Limited (\"MES\").\n\nMES, which has already placed an initial order under the agreement, is a\nrapidly growing UK based distributor of marine electronics with a strong and\ngrowing sales network in the UK and Europe. Under the agreement SRT will\nprovide MES with OEM AIS products for distribution and sale under the MES and\nDigital Yacht brands.\n\nNick Heyes, Managing Director of MES said: \"We are very excited to have secured\nan OEM Distributor Agreement with SRT. The product they offer is of the highest\nquality and performance and therefore fits well with our brand and product\nportfolio. We have seen increasing demand across our sales networks and believe\nthe AIS market offers us an opportunity to develop a new and significant\nrevenue stream.\"\n\nNeil Peniket, Managing Director of SRT Marine Technology Limited said: \"MES is\nan established, fast growing marine electronics company and we are delighted to\nbe working with them to maximise the AIS opportunity. There are over four\nmillion commercial and leisure vessels in Europe with approximately 700,000 of\nthese in the UK. Therefore as awareness of AIS amongst mariners grows and high\nquality, low cost AIS products become more readily available, demand for AIS\nproducts is expected to grow strongly.\"\n\nAIS systems facilitate accurate identification and location of maritime traffic\nproviding considerable safety and security benefits to mariners and homeland\nsecurity agencies such as the coastguard/life boat services.\n\nThe AIS market is developing rapidly and SRT continues to build its\ninternational network of partners, working as a long term technology provider\nand offering a range of solutions to suit the requirements of the partners.\nDuring 2007 SRT announced an agreement to supply the RNLI and the first\nnational mandate for AIS was announced by Turkey requiring up to 35,000 vessels\nto be fitted with AIS.
