Spectral's new i-Lynx(TM) instrument shows positive market acceptance

TORONTO, July 13 /CNW/ - Spectral Diagnostics Inc. (TSX: SDI) today
announced successful results of the early commercialization of its i-Lynx(TM)
instrument, which offers both automated interpretation of the Cardiac
STATus(R) rapid test and information management of the results.

As at June 30, 2005, Spectral had placed 47 instruments in more than 24
hospitals. These placements are predominately in the United States, the
Company's largest geographic cardiac market presence. The i-Lynx(TM) is now
operating in hospitals ranging from mid-size to major medical centers across
the country. Instruments have also been placed in several Canadian
institutions. The i-Lynx(TM) is compliant with FDA and Health Canada
regulations and is assembled at Spectral's Toronto facility.

Spectral had previously identified a market need in rapid testing in the
hospital setting, particularly in critical illness situations. Visual read
assays are convenient, rapid and have proven effectiveness in directing
patient management. However, individual differences in interpretation, lack of
a permanent electronic record and integration into the hospital's computerized
patient records, laboratory results and billing functions have limited their
implementation. The i-Lynx(TM) instrument is a solution to these issues.

"We are very pleased with the early market acceptance of the i-Lynx(TM).
We have now placed these instruments in both new and existing customer
hospitals. We expect the i-Lynx(TM) to help us maintain our existing valued
customer relationships and to allow us to attract new business. The need for
hospitals to meet rapid cardiac marker testing guidelines remains strong and
the i-Lynx(TM) provides an innovative solution," stated Dr. Paul Walker,
President and CEO of Spectral.

Spectral is a developer of innovative technologies for rapid diagnostics.
Spectral provides accurate and timely information to clinicians enabling the
early initiation of appropriate and targeted therapy. Current products are
rapid format tests measuring markers of myocardial infarction (Cardiac
STATus(R)). New products include rapid diagnostics for sepsis (EAA(TM)).
Spectral manufactures the EAA(TM) and Cardiac STATus(R). Spectral's common
shares are listed on The Toronto Stock Exchange: SDI.
