The session will feature results\nof clinical studies using the Endotoxin Activity Assay (EAA(TM)) presented by\ninternationally renowned physicians.\n\n\nThese studies demonstrate the usefulness of the EAA(TM) in several\ndifferent clinical conditions. A number of key reports will be made at this\nmeeting, including:\n\n\n- Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, a world leader in the use of early,\n goal oriented treatment of sepsis, will present the results of a\n study on the use of EAA(TM) to identify patients who require early\n aggressive management of impending sepsis.\n- Rockefeller University in New York, whose study has identified that\n elevated endotoxin levels are a risk factor for adverse events for\n patients on chronic haemodialysis, will present results on the use of\n EAA(TM) in patients with end stage renal disease.\n- University of Texas, South Western, Parkland Hospital, where EAA(TM)\n has been studied in patients with varying levels of burn injury and\n in conjunction with a potential anti-endotoxin therapy for these\n patients, will present its results.\n\n\nIn addition, results will be presented from a systematic review of the\nliterature showing favourable outcomes for patients treated with an\nanti-endotoxin therapy, Toray Medical's "Toraymyxin", an endotoxin removal\nsystem for patients with sepsis. Spectral and Toray Medical continue to work\nclosely together to provide a sepsis management strategy, which includes a\ntool for patient selection (Spectral's EAA(TM)) and treatment (Toray's\nToraymyxin).\n\n\n"We are pleased to see these reports on the utility of the EAA(TM) in the\nmanagement of critically ill patients," stated Dr. Paul Walker, President &\nCEO of Spectral. "These activities support the extensive distribution network\nwe are building across Europe. The use of the EAA(TM) consistently\ndemonstrates the utility of endotoxin measurements in a variety of critical\nconditions, both as a marker for risk of bad outcomes and as a guide to\nappropriate therapy," added Dr. Walker.\n\n\nSpectral is a developer of innovative technologies for comprehensive\ndisease manag...
